Discover the charm and beauty of Kent on this 9.5-mile guided walk through the heart of the Garden of England. This journey will take you through picturesque historic villages, tranquil ancient woodlands, and vibrant landscapes filled with bluebells—a symbol of humility, constancy, and everlasting love. As we walk, you’ll hear tales of love and legend, explore centuries-old churches, and immerse yourself in the rich history and folklore of this stunning region. The walk ends in a local pub that also offers a selection of local wines. 

Key Highlights of the Hike:

Historic Villages: Wander through quaint Kentish village Hollingbourne  steeped in history.

Bluebell Woodlands: Enjoy the enchanting sight of bluebells in bloom (usually late March) and learn about their cultural significance and practical uses throughout history.

Culpeper Heritage: Hear the fascinating story of the Culpeper family, one of Kent’s most prominent families, and their legacy.

Historic Churches: see two historic churches, each with its own captivating history.

Kentish Countryside: Take in the breathtaking views of rolling hills and valleys that define the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

As part of the hike, you’ll also learn about the folklore of bluebells and the practical uses of this charming flower over the centuries. Along the way, your experienced guide, a North Downs Way AmbassadorHill and Moorland Leader and Blue Badge Tourist Guide  will provide insightful commentary on the history and nature of this beautiful region.

Logistics & Meeting Points:

Meeting Point 1: Victoria Station at 07:40 AM by platform 4, taking the 07.55 train

Meeting Point 2: Alternatively, you can meet us directly at Hollingbourne Train Station.

Walk Leader: Ildi Pelikan

Distance: 9.5 miles (approx. 15 km).

Terrain: Hilly at times, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Difficulty: Moderate – suitable for walkers with a basic level of fitness.

Duration: Approximately 4.5 to 5 hours.

Ages: 12 and above

Dogs: NO

Toilet Facilities: Yes on route

Rest stops: Yes

What to Wear:

Hiking boots or sturdy shoes (the terrain can be uneven).

Dress appropriately for the weather; bring a waterproof jacket if needed.
