Planning a shopping trip during your visit to Maidstone?
If you love shopping then you will love Maidstone; a place well known for its fantastic retail offer with a fabulous array of shops. When it comes to Maidstone shopping, you will be spoilt for choice!
Leading off the High Street is Week Street, the main pedestrianised shopping street. From here you can easily wander into Fremlin Walk, a stylish open air shopping centre with a House of Fraser anchor store, where you will find many well-known high street brands. The Mall Chequers is a spacious indoor shopping centre that can be accessed off King Street with a great variety of quality stores.
On the other side of the River Medway, you can find St. Peter's Wharf: the location of large homeware, clothes and crafts stores. You will also find the Broadway Shopping Centre, and twice a week Maidstone Market takes place at Lockmeadow. On the outskirts of town near Junction 7 there is Newnham Court Shopping Village and Eclipse Park.

Maidstone also boasts one of the largest selections of independent retailers in the country. There is an eclectic mix of businesses from jewellers to kitchenware, gifts to ladies wear that can be found in the many ancient streets.
Wander through the Royal Star Arcade, or down the historic Bank Street, Gabriel's Hill, or Market Buildings. Stop off for a bite to eat in the many restaurants that can be found in Earl Street, or find some unique shops in Pudding Lane or Union Street. Throughout the historic streets of Maidstone Town Centre and in the surrounding villages, you will find a selection of special and unique shops. Of course, with a superb location in the heart of Kent, you may wish to visit one of the local produce farmers’ markets and buy some of the fresh regional goods.
Most shops are open Monday - Saturday from 09.00 until 17.30 and Sunday 11.00 until 16.30. Fremlin Walk shops in the town centre are also open for late night shopping every Thursday until 20.00.
Maidstone has many car parks in the town centre for convenient parking, or you may prefer to use the excellent park and ride service.
