There's a wonderful divere range of sports and recreational activities in this part of Kent, from tennis and bowls to horse riding and park runs.
Clare Park Tennis Courts, 176 Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, Kent. ME16 8JT. There are 3 courts here for public use and a small fee is payable to the groundsmen. Courts are locked in the evening.
There are also tennis courts at the Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel and the Tudor Park, Marriott Hotel & Country Club for the use of their guests.
Penenden Heath Park has a public tennis facility located at Penenden Heath Rd and Boxley Rd, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 2DQ. This is attached to Penenden Heath Tennis Academy but there is a public court available for anyone to use.
Freedom Fitness, Mill Meadow, St Peter's St, Maidstone ME16 0SX. Tel: 01622 681987. Located on the banks of the River Medway. There are indoor and floodlit courts but non-members can play.
Clare Park Bowls Club, 176 Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, Kent. ME16 8JT. Welcomes visitors and indeed new members. It is a small club with a friendly atmosphere. Details of times can be found on the external club wall.
There are several horse riding schools offering both private and group lessons: Horseshoes Riding School, Lower Bell Riding School, at East Farleigh and Squirrels Riding School on Bluebell Hill.
Mote Park has an orienteering trail which was set up by Saxon's Orienteering Club. The trail map can be purchased from the Mote Park Cafe.
These take place along Maidstone River Park, along the river path from Kent Life, Sandling at 9am on Saturday mornings.
Heavenly Fitness offer Aerial Yoga classes from their studio in Tovil. It is challenging and fun.
