The area around Maidstone offers some great events ranging from the spectacular, such as Leeds Castle and the outdoor concerts with fireworks, to fly pasts with Spitfires, to vast antique and collectors fairs, motor racing and super bikes at Brands Hatch, outdoor summer festivals at the Hop Farm and Mote Park, unique native wildlife observation and monitoring programmes which you can join, and lots of very good local and free music events from May to September.

Alongside these unique experiences are opportunities to sample food from the store cupboard of wonderful Kentish produce in a wide variety of pubs, restaurants, farmers markets, farm shops and local stores.
To complete your visit, stay in an amazing place - this could be anything from a cabin to a castle. Locally purchased food can provide great inspiration and ideas for dinner if you are enjoying a self-catering holiday.
Walk along the riverbanks, across the top of the North Downs to blow the cobwebs away, walk through the countryside and the woods and simply enjoy this beautiful part of the world.
