Earl Street took its name from the site of a major medieval house, Earl's Place. Home to the Hazlitt Theatre the street has a variety of independent shops including a florist, travel agents, recruitment companies and a lot of restaurants. Here you will find Giggling Squid, Ask, Five Guys, the Ivy Café and at the bottom of the hill La Taberna, a Spanish restaurant, in the wonderful historic Corpus Christi Hall.
