St Thomas a Becket Church, Capel

This small Norman Wealden church has a lovely setting and much to fascinate the visitor. There is 14th century work and the tower was partly rebuilt after a fire in 1639. Inside, the crown-post roof is striking and there are some interesting fittings, but most significant are the extensive 13th century wall paintings covering much of the north wall of the nave, which were restored in 1967 by Mrs Eve Baker.
