The Old Boat Café is based in Fairmeadow, Maidstone. We are on the all weather Maidstone River Park cyclepath between St Peter's Bridge and Maidstone Bridge.
The cafe has ample seating outside and is a great option for all ages.
Our cafe is based on a historical narrowboat butty Vienna/Verbena from 1911. She is on the National Historic Ships register and provides a great backdrop and conversation point if visiting Maidstone.
We serve fresh locally sourced produce from icecream to cakes. As well as light lunches and pastries we are known for our coffees. We welcome all customers and can offer private bookings and tailor events to your needs. There is no need to book unless it's a special occasion.
We are open everyday 10-4
There is no seating available aboard the boat, however we have 50 seats next to the river.
Nearest parking is at Lockmeadow, Medway St car park or Fremlin Walk.
This boat is not on a road but on the tow path of the River Medway, right in the heart of town. It is moored between the two main road bridges where there is a garden. Access can be gained via the pedestrian crossing close to the Kentish Lady moorings and the Archbishop's Palace or via the underpass from Fairmeadow or the lower High Street.
As it is on a cycle route, this is a particularly good way to arrive.
The closest parking can be found in Medway Street, just walk along Fairmeadow under the underpass and you are on the River Path.
This is really easy to reach by bike or boat.
Closest station is Maidstone West.
Alight buses in the High Street or Pudding Lane.
